At TEKenable we think Digital Transformation is about using technology to change organisations in four main ways. First, we help our clients better engage their customers. Second, we allow them empower their employees. Next, we enable our clients to optimise their operations. Finally , Digital Transformation involves using technology to make possible entirely new product offerings for our clients’ customers.
We recently completed a project which uses technology to deliver in two of these area – engaging customers while optimising its internal operations. Our client ? Weatherbys.
Weatherbys is a UK company, established in 1770 and responsible for the administration of horse racing in the United Kingdom. It also publishes the General Stud Book, recognised as the authority on racehorse pedigree for the UK and Ireland.
Weatherbys engaged TEKenable to resolve challenges with their customer facing processes, specifically involving foal registration.
Until recently, breeders wishing to register foals with for Weatherbys could only file documents in paper format. With over 14,000 foals registered in the UK and Ireland each year, this was very labour intensive for Weatherbys and also cumbersome for the breeder who was forced to submit paper based forms by post. A solution was required.
Working closely with Weatherbys, we designed a new digital registration portal to handle details of foal births online. This system is now live in the UK and Ireland on desktop and mobile phone, accepts payments on both credit and debit card and far easier for Weatherbys to administer. Equally as important, it’s saving breeders valuable time.
Russell Ferris, chief executive of Weatherbys Ireland explains,: “To date the platform has been very well received by those breeders who have made their foal registrations via the new system. It is our objective to incorporate new technology into the General Stud Book, to create user friendly, mobile and efficient systems to meet the demands of the modern breeder.
The TEKenable team are proud to have worked on this project and we’re already engaged on a programme of additional work with Weatherbys, expanding the digital transformation agenda across the organisation
